watchingawoman2007-09-11-1189567019.jpgA University of Arkansas student was released from jail Tuesday night, after he was arrested for following and harassing female students.
Police first learned of this behavior on August 29th when a young woman, who we'll call "Jane," reported that a man, who police have since identified as 23-year-old Chidiebere Nwagboso, harassed her in a computer lab in the Mechanical Engineering Department. Jane says Nwagboso sat by her, hounding her for personal information, even trying to read the e-mail she was writing. Jane tried ignoring him, but soon learned ignoring Nwagboso was pointless, so she left the lab to try to get away from him, but the stranger followed her, even though she repeatedly asked him to leave her alone. Jane says what happened next was the creepiest part of all, as he told her she should come to his place and tried to out his arm around her.
Nwagboso finally ended his pursuit as Jane sought help in another campus building. Police arrested him outside Gregson Hall September 7th after two more women came forward with similar tales. On Monday, Nwagboso was charged with harassment and criminal trespass. His next court date is October 31st.
