The group claims the votes for gambling games in the racetracks in Hot Springs and West Memphis were unlawful elections because, the go ahead for these games were decided by the racetracks to have the vote within those city limits. The group also says casinos bring crime, gambling addiction, and negative attention to the whole state and local cities. "The people of Fort Smith had nothing to do with it, then all of a sudden they realized that they were at risk for having a casino in their town and the people in Hot Springs and West Memphis are responsible for it. That is unfair to the people of Fort Smith" said John Thomas, Spokesperson for Family Action Council. Some people say the casino will boost Fort Smiths economy and bring money to the city.
