Fayetteville, AR: Steve Rust, President & CEO of the Fayetteville Economic Development Council, has been selected to attend the Edward Lowe Foundation Fall Retreat. The meeting is scheduled for September 18-20 in Big Rock Valley, the foundation’s conference center in Southwestern Michigan.
The foundation selected Rust based on the content found on the Fayetteville Economic Development Council’s website. He is one of only eleven participants chosen for the fall program.
The Edward Lowe Foundation envisions a society that actively embraces and encourages entrepreneurship as the source and strategy for economic growth, community development and economically independent individuals. The foundation embraces the concept of "economic gardening," a unique and proven economic development strategy based on the fundamental concept that entrepreneurs drive economies. Economic gardening helps drive the creation and growth of local business by providing a supportive and enriched environment where these businesses not only grow, but thrive.
The foundation supports entrepreneurship by focusing on second-stage entrepreneurs and the belief that they are vital to the United States economy. It also believes that these entrepreneurs have the best opportunity to succeed if they learn from their peers. To that end, it develops and delivers programs and information that help communities appreciate and support the growth of these entrepreneurs. As experts in peer learning, the retreats give participants new insights and practical tools that can have an immediate impact on their organizations.
