A special legislative session to fix mistakes in the marriage law would cost at least 60,000 dollars, but taking the case to the Arkansas Supreme Court would also cost thousands. Court officials said it wouldnt be an extra cost to taxpayers, since judges and law clerks will be paid no matter what cases they hear. Attorneys are in the early stages of trying to fix the marriage law and neither option has been ruled out. In fact a spokesperson for Governor Mike Beebe said it may take both the legislator and the court to change the law.
