Some residents say the dam will help with flooding and supply water to Crawford County.
Right now, Van Buren residents buy their water through Fort Smith and some say getting it from Lee Creek would save them money.
"If we had our own supply I would expect our water bills would be a little cheaper. If we had our own water plant and water supply enough to supply it." said Van Buren resident George Bryant.
Building the dam will give Crawford county its own reservoir.
Some residents say they are against the dam because it will destroy wildlife in the area and they say money could be used for other, more important projects.
