Around 1:49 Saturday morning members of Sigma Chi were hosting a "date night" function with the Tri Delta sorority at their fraternity house. Witnesses say three unidentified and uninvited males entered the house and tried to sell them ecstasy. They were immediately escorted out. Investigators say about twenty minutes later three shots were fired on the east side of the house -- towards several people who were sitting in the breezeway. The bullet left holes in a pillar and rain gutter-- believed to be from a 9 millimeter handgun. "We haven't had a case like this before," says Lt. Gary Crain with UAPD. Luckily no one was injured. Fraternity members declined to talk about the shooting until the investigation is wrapped up. Although police officers often provide security for organized parties on campus, UAPD was not at the frat house Friday night. Investigators say they are looking for three hispanic males. Two of the suspects were wearing flat-billed caps turned sideways and baggy clothes. They were believed to be driving a red four-door Nissan Altima, or a car with that body shape. "It raises awareness of what can happen at any place so everyone takes note of this and realizes that this was a serious incident and that we need to get to the bottom of it," Crain says.
