The home on 1411 Young Street is where Danny and Sandy Myers spent 32 years of their lives and raised their children...but a fire Saturday morning reduced their memories to ashes and even claimed the life of their beloved dog. Brandi Green found out her mom and step-dad's house was on fire around 8:30 Saturday morning. When she arrived ashes and a few picture frames were all that were left of the house she grew up in. "The furniture's gone, everything. There's not anything in there that's even left, theres a couch over here you can see, that's pretty much what everything looks like in the house," Green says. The Myers were taken to Northwest Medical Center for treatment. Both had smoke inhalation....Green's step-dad Danny suffered a broken foot and a few burns when he ran back into the house to try and save their dachshund Spike. "He had gone back in after the dog, and apparently, from what I understand from the fire marshal, there was a construction worker who had driven by who came and pulled him out, so whoever that is we're thankful to him for that," Green says. Sadly, Spike didn't make it. And neither did most of the Myers' possessions. But Green's mom and step-dad got out alive, and she knows that's what counts. "I'm thankful to God that my parents are alive, that's the most important thing." The cause of the fire is still unknown.
