Does the media help or hurt colleges trying to recruit a new coach?
We decided to take a look into how the media affects recruiting coaches for the University of Arkansas.
Its been all over the news in Northwest Arkansas that Wake Forrest coach Jim Grobe could be the next Razorback football coach. Turns out hes chosen to stay put.
The same thing happened last week with Tommy Tubberville, the head coach of Auburn. Reports ran he was the next Hog coach, but it never happened.
This brings up the question, when the media jumps ahead of an official announcement, does it end up affecting the recruiting process?
Sports radio host, Rick Schaeffer, has been around Arkansas athletics his entire life and says whats going on right now between the media and the hiring process is not new.
Schaeffer says theres also been a factor in the past few years that puts pressure on mainstream media to work quickly and thats the Internet.
Schaeffer told me usually coaches don’t take a job over money, not the media attention.
