Since the beginning of this year there have been hundreds of toy recalls, some from unsafe levels of lead, others containing dangerous magnets. This has made collecting toys for needy children extra challenging this holiday season.
Major Rich Watts with the Salvation Army said they get daily updates on toy recalls from their national headquarters to make sure they don’t pass out dangerous toys.
In all theyve collected nearly 85 thousand toys which will be delivered to 4-thousand needy families. Major Watts says the families who donated were careful when selecting the toys, as theyve received very few toys that were on the recall list.
