Bull and bareback riders from around the country traveled hundreds of miles to strut their stuff at the Rodeo of the Ozarks in Springdale. With today’s high gas prices, getting to these competitions isn’t as easy as it used to be.
With gas prices hitting the roof and with the cost of living on the rise, many riders are having a tough time making a living. Some of the competitors we spoke to say they’re only participating in the rodeos that are close to home so they don’t have to spend so much money at the pump. Others have resorted to carpooling in order to save some dough. Some of the competitors tell us they’ve started flying because it’s actually cheaper than flying.
Even though the entry numbers are down, event coordinators say gas prices shouldn’t put a big damper on this rodeo. They say they’ve still been able to bring in some big name riders.
