A familiar face is throwing his hat in the ring, and running for mayor of Fayetteville.
"Today I'm formally announcing my candidacy for mayor for Fayetteville," said Dan Coody.
Many folks in Fayetteville will recognize Coody. He served as the city's mayor for several years until Lioneld Jordan stepped in and won the race in 2008.
"It's not so much taking the office back, it's providing the kind of leadership that I know is needed in this town to do the kind of work we need to do in Fayetteville," said Coody.
Several people rallied around Coody while he announced he has a new sense of enthusiasm for the future.
"I see what we can do in Fayetteville, and I have a real vision for what can be accomplished...We could do some great things and they're just not being done, and that's got to be addressed."
But many people believe Mayor Jordan is doing a great job with the city and hope he is re-elected.
KNWA reached out to Mayor Jordan and he gave this statement.
"I feel that this administration has done a great job merging the economy with the environment with the social aspects of the community. We're proud of that record and I'm happy to run on that record."
Now it is up to the voters to decide who will score the mayors seat in November.
Coody said he joined the race with only six months out because he believes democracy requires at least two names on the ballot.
So now, both candidates will be campaigning, hoping to win your vote.
