"Exceptional" Drought Conditions in Pope, Van Buren Counties

Two Arkansas counties, including one in the River Valley, are under "exceptional" drought conditions according to The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Pope County and Van Buren County were given the designation Thursday morning, this marks the first time in Arkansas for these severe condition this year. 

The dry conditions persist despite a little rainfall in that area over the weekend and experts say they expect it to get worse.
