July's sweltering temperatures this year made history. It wasn't just the hottest July ever, it was the hottest month ever on record in the United States. The federal government began record keeping in 1895 and the latest monthly climate report says the 12 month period ending in July was the warmest recorded in those 117 years.
Honey Boo Boo
Honey Boo Boo is getting her own show. The 6 year old breakout star of TLC's "Toddlers and Tiaras", Alana Thompson, is now the star of her own reality series. "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" will follow the pint-sized pageant contestant and her family in rural Georgia.
Starbucks Says Ditch The Wallet
Starbucks wants you to pay for your latte with your cell phone. The coffee giant is teaming up with Square, to allow shoppers to pay with their smartphone at affiliated stores. Starting this fall, customers who download the "Pay by Square" app will be able to pay for their latte with their phone. They hope to expand the program in the future so your smart phone will recognize when you are in a Starbucks and automatically make your payment simply by telling the cashier your name.
Call of Duty
Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 won't be out until Fall but fans got their first look at the game as the trailer made it's debut online. Previous versions of the game caused huge lines at stores as fans waited in line just to get a copy. The 9th installment of the popular game franchise is due out November 13th.
Randy Travis
Country singer Randy Travis jailed on charges of driving while intoxicated and naked. Out on bail now, he was arrested and jailed Tuesday night after he crashed into barricades at a construction site and then refused to take a sobriety test. Officers say Travis threatened to shoot and kill them as they took him into custody. Travis, who's 53, was charged in February with public intoxication when he was found in a car parked in front of a church in his town
