City Administrator Randy Reed retired and board members Dr. Cole Goodman, Velvet Barrows, and Kenneth Pyle all resigned. While it seems people involved are tight-lipped about what started the turmoil, others were very vocal about their anger against certain city officials. Reed says he got threats, but he’s not letting them get under his skin. Reed says, "Theres no way to dignify them, and I think the people that put that out there dont have enough courage to put their name with it." The Board accepted Pyle’s resignation at Tuesday’s board meeting. Goodman also turned in his resignation Tuesday, but Wednesday he said he’s thinking about keeping his position. Wednesday, Barrows submitted her resignation. Thursday the board will be having a special meeting at the Fort Smith Library. They will appoint an interim to replace Reed. They will also vote on whether to have special elections to fill the empty board positions. If they do vote to hold those elections, the voting will take place in May.
