Hail to the red, white and blue. On June 14, 1777, the Continental Congress approved the design of a national flag. They decreed the first US flag have 13 stripes, alternate red and white and that the union be 13 stars, white in a blue field, representing a new constellation.
Jerry Sandusky
Day four wrapped up in the molestation trial of the former Penn State coach Jerry Sandusky. Victim six, took the stand Thursday describing how Sandusky would give him bearhugs in the shower. Sandusky is charged with 52 criminal counts for alleged abuse of ten boys over fifteen years. Two more alleged victims, known as victim three and victim nine, are still expected to testify. The 68 year old denies the allegations.
Matt Cain
San Francisco Giants pitcher Matt Cain made history Wednesday night by throwing the second perfect game of the season and the first in Giants history. Cain struck out a career high 14 batters.
Floyd Mayweather Jr. is
Championship boxer, Floyd Mayweather Jr., began a 90 day jail term for a domestic violence charge last week . His lawyer was in court Thursday requesting that he be placed on house arrest but that request was denied. His lawyer is claiming that Mayweather's health is deteriorating so badly in prison that he's in danger of never fighting again if he has to serve his full sentence.
Chris Brown vs. Drake
Rappers Chris Brown and Drake caused a massive brawl at New York City's WIP nightclub Thursday night. According to Drake's reps, he was leaving the club when the altercation began and didn't hurt any person or property. Brown is not talking but posted this photo on instagram of himself sporting a bloody gash on his chin. There is no official word on why the fight broke out though rumor has it that it was over Rhianna. The club was damaged and several people were taken to the hospital. No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
