Suspect in Homicide Investigation Dies

The suspect in a Fort Smith homicide investigation has died of injuries.
Eric Boyd was pronounced dead Monday night just before 9:00 pm at Mercy Hospital. On Monday around 4:00 in the morning, Fort Smith officers responded to reported burglary at a home at 1804 Brazil Avenue
Police were told that Broyd had broken into the house and attacked one of the occupants. They said other occupants of the home were able to subdue the suspect after the attack.
Police said Boyd and Jackson, who know each other, became involved in a physical confrontation and Boyd was armed with a knife. After Jackson was stabbed, police said he began yelling for help, alerting his father and brother who were asleep inside the home. According to reports, Boyd was immediately confronted by John's brother Justin Jackson, 20, and father Jeffrey Jackson, 57.
Officers found John Jackson,24, with multiple stab wounds. Jackson was transported to Sparks hospital where he later died. The suspect, 23-year-old Eric Boyd, was also taken to a local hospital with unknown injuries, according to reports.
The investigation is still on-going. At the conclusion of the investigation, it will be presented to the Sebastian County Prosecuting Attorney's Office for review.
