Friday in Fayetteville legislators held a forum to discuss House Bill 1243 allowing trained faculty and staff to have guns on campus.

The Chamber of Commerce was packed with folks ready to let their voices be heard.

One side said, let teachers teach and have more trust on campus.

The other said schools are notorious for not being protected which could lead to them being targeted.

Senator Jon Woods said the bill would not force faculty and staff to have guns, just give them the option.

"It's not saying, every faculty member on campus has to start bringing a gun to campus, it's just giving the ones that want to be able to do that, the path to be able to do that," Woods said.

Senator Collins said we will see this bill taken to the House Tuesday, Feb. 12.
