Fort Smith Northside Slips Past Fort Smith Southside In OT To Claim 7A State Title

Fort Smith Northside and Fort Smith Southside backed the hype surrounding the cross town rivals playing each other for the 7A girls state championship on Friday as the Lady Bears pulled out a 51-46 overtime win to claim the title.
Southside led for most of the game, as much as 11 points. Seniors Bria Caldwell and Jill Meyers connected on 6 straight free throws in the overtime period to ice the come from behind win.
Southside was led by senior Peyton Hamilton with 16 points. Brianna Jackson led all scorers with 18. Caldwell ended her high school career with 13 points and was only 3 of 12 from the field, but was 5 of 6 from the line and named MVP. Northside finishes the championship season with a 27-4 record.
