LaFlore County Sheriffs Department says Myrtle Cooper passed away Thursday in a Tulsa Hospital.

Cooper's boyfriend, Elliot Cusick, 39, is now facing murder charges, says Undersheriff Kendall Morgan.

Officials say that in January 2013, Myrtle Cooper was found lying in the front yard of her home unconscious.

Investigators say, Cusick told them he hit Cooper in the head with a stick, and then tried to set her on fire inside her home. Cusick then cut Coopers head and leg with a knife so she couldn't run, says Undersheriff Morgan.

Ellisot Cusick was also in the hospital with severe burns for almost two months and was released into police custody Thursday.
