You could hear a pin drop at War Memorial Stadium Saturday when two Hog football players got carted off the field in back to back plays.  One of those young men's season is over.

"They ended up having to operate, having to fix his broken leg," head coach John L. Smith said about redshirt freshman running back Kody Walker.  "That means, of course, he'll lose the season."

Thankfully Tevin Mitchel's season, much less his career, is not over.  Mitchel collided helmets with his own teammate before crumpling in a heap to the ground.

"Tevin has been released from the hospital in Little Rock," Smith said.  "He will meet with specialists here (in Fayetteville) and discuss their findings.  Everything that we get from the scans and all of that stuff was all very positive from a standpoint of there's nothing wrong.  We're optimistic there.  We'll just have to wait and see.  He's not going to play this week for sure."

As for quarterback Tyler Wilson, his status for Saturday's clash with #1 Alabama is still to be determined.  Wilson left the ULM game at the half after taking several hard hits to the head.

"Tyler was back for the meeting (Sunday) night," Smith said.  "He still has some symptoms, grogginess.  He will not go to the field until the doctors okay him and he's symptom-free.  That being said, we're making preparation with Brandon (Allen) and Brandon (Mitchell) at quarterback, which we have to do at this point.  If we get Tyler back, then it'll be icing on the cake for us."

Cornerback Kaelon Kelleybrew also left the Monroe game but his ailment has been diagnosed with an arm bruise.  He will likely play against the Crimson Tide.
