Light Bulb Hoarding

Light bulbs are something many people don't buy unless they have to, but all that's changing thanks to recent legislation.

Starting in 2012, the U.S. government will begin phasing-out 100-watt incandescents to make way for more energy-efficient models like CFLs, LEDs and halogens. Because some people don't agree with the change, or they really like the bulbs they have now, they've been buying as many of the old bulbs as possible. It's even been given the label of "light bulb hoarding".

While certain people are keeping them for themselves, others are stocking up so they can sell the bulbs on the internet at a later date. But the rebellion doesn't stop there.

The light bulb legislation has also become a topic in the presidential race with GOP candidate Michele Bachmann saying it's just another way the Obama Administration is telling people what they can and can't do. But regardless of your opinion, the change is coming, so get ready to see more and more eco-friendly options at your local shopping center.
