Colo. Students Form Eco Light Bulb-Changing Team

By: Lisa Brence
Updated: December 10, 2010

Several student volunteers are going door-to-door in Colorado, trying to get people to switch to fluorescent light bulbs. The Denver students asked neighbors to switch out their old, inefficient light bulbs for the new, more eco-friendly bulbs. It was all part of the PeaceJam Program, which promotes student leadership and involving students in service projects.
"Changing out 150 light bulbs saves about ten tons of carbon emissions a year, so this little bit does a lot for the world," says volunteer Brittany Pyle.
Youth from around the world have participated in the PeaceJam Program.
