The first ever openly gay bishop was in Northwest Arkansas to share his views on homosexuality and religion.

On Saturday afternoon, All Saints' Episcopal Church in Bentonville aired the film "Love Free or Die." The film follows Bishop Gene Robinson's personal journey with the Episcopal Church. In addition, it addresses the struggle between his two defining passions some believe are in direct conflict; his love for God and for his partner Mark.

Bishop Robinson believes we may need to revisit the context of written scripture and literal translation.

"We're really asking the question whether or not traditional religion, Judaism, Christianity, Islam, whether we've gotten it wrong about gay and lesbian, bisexual and transgender people and do we need to revisit those few verses and scripture that seem to condemn homosexuality."

Folks were able to watch the film for free and were given the opportunity to ask Bishop Robinson questions. Robinson said his reception here in Northwest Arkansas has been positive.
