A new organization is hoping to make breastfeeding in public more accepted in our area.

The group, called "Breastfeeding Friendly Arkansas," met Saturday at the Fayetteville Public Library.

They offer education, support and empowerment for women when it comes to caring for their children.

The organization believes their work benefits both stay-at-home and working moms, by helping make local businesses more breastfeeding friendly for their customers and employees.

"Whatever she chooses to do, we want to be there with her to help support her through her breastfeeding journey," said Shawn House with the organization.

In Arkansas, women are legally allowed to nurse in public.
