Park Rangers spotted 175 birds during their annual eagle count Wednesday, beating last years count by more than twenty.
Frozen lakes to the North push the eagles South to Northwest Arkansas' warmer water, and rangers keep a running tally to track the population.
Rangers say January is the best month to spot the birds, but eagle season usually runs through February.
The best weather for eagle watching is actually when it's cold and blustery outside. When the sun is shining, the eagles are soaring.
