From one helping hand to another, the Meals On Wheels of Benton County program visits the Northwest Arkansas Food Bank on a weekly basis.
Mike Jeffcoat is a board member of the program and said, "Someone needs a meal we try our best to get it to them. They weight it, they load it for us. They just couldn't help anymore. they are just great people here".
The agency is just one of nearly 175 the food bank helps out in an effort to fight hunger.
The President and CEO of the food bank, Marge Wolf, explains, "There are people that you have no idea that are going without because of pride and a million other reasons. Those individuals are in line every day looking for some place to get food to their families".
When it comes to the need in Northwest Arkansas, this year the food bank expects to give out as much as 6.3 million pounds of food.
With such a great need though, also comes the task of keeping shelves stocked.
That's where the food bank says anyone can help out by donating because any little goes a long way in the fight against hunger.
Wolf said, "I don't care if it's two cans of vegetables or jar peanut butter we thank you because there're definitely people out there who need it and will use it. This is a plea to help us because there comes a time where we're not going to be able to keep up".
