Fort Smith police are looking for a driver of a car they say hit and critically injured a man walking along the street.

The accident happened on Friday, around 5:41 pm on the 2300 block of South 64th Street near South U Street, but the driver left before officers arrived. Hossain was transported to a local hospital with serious head injuries, and is currently listed in critical condition.

Police collected debris from the scene and believe the vehicle involved in this hit and run investigation is a 2004 to 2007 Dodge Durango.  The color of the suspect vehicle is unknown.  Preliminary investigations show that Mr. Hossain and the SUV were both traveling north.

The Dodge Durango involved in this incident should have a missing passenger side mirror and possible damage to other areas on the passenger side.

Anyone with information regarding this accident is highly encouraged to contact the Fort Smith Police Department at (479) 709-5100 or dial 78-CRIME.
