Bobby Petrino dumped his motorcycle into a ditch, failing to disclose that a 25-year old female he had helped promote within the athletic department was with him, and was later dumped as Arkansas' head coach by A.D. Jeff Long.
And the search to replace him began.
The university initially turned to John L. Smith, the former Arkansas assistant couldn't duplicate the success of his former boss as the Hogs. He won just four games after posting 21 victories in 2010 and 2011 under Petrino.
Shortly after the Hogs dismal season wrapped up with a home loss to LSU, Long relieved Smith of his duties. Reports surfaced of naming Les Miles, Gary Patterson, James Franklin and Chris Petersen as the next in line.
But it came down to Wisconsin head coach, and a former hog caller in his own right, Bret Bielema. In early December he was tapped as the 32nd head coach in UA football history.
