Feed Fayetteville Opens Downtown Office

By: Kyle Leyenberger
Updated: March 7, 2013
Feed Fayetteville is working to establish a community food hub in downtown Fayetteville.

The organization bought an 8,000 square foot building at 211 Locust Avenue, to create a community resource center for access to healthy food.

The group plans to provide storage space for local farmers and to host educational programs on gardening, cooking and composting at the new location.

"We were doing everything out of the back of our cars," says Adrienne Shaunfield of Feed Fayetteville. "This will just make everybody in the community have a place that's centrally located that we can all come together and talk about good food."

The group plans to renovate the building, but for now they're focusing on building gardens outside.

Sixty volunteers plan to help turn some of the parking lot into 3,000 square feet of planting space next week. To find out how you can help, visit this site.
