Heritage Coach Removed from Duties

The coach of Heritage High School's girls softball team was removed from his coaching position Friday.
Coach Trace Briggs was suspended with pay after parents complained that the man made a lewd comment to the teens after they lost a game in March.
Briggs was also suspended for one game in 2011, according to a letter written by district superintendent Janie Darr. At that time Briggs was warned that he needed to act in a professional manner, and failure to do so could result in a recommendation for termination or non-renewal.
At an open meeting Friday, the Rogers School Board voted five to one to follow Darr's recommendation to terminate Briggs' coaching contract.
