Arkansas Game and Fish Commissioner Rick Watkins is calling it quits.

Watkins resigned one week after Lonoke County Sheriff's deputies arrested him on misdemeanor charges of drunk and disorderly conduct.

Lonoke deputies received a call that Watkins was banging on the windows of a home and nearby business before firing a gun into the ground.

Governor Mike Beebe, who appointed the 54-year-old to the commission in 2007, accepted his resignation.

Watkins is due back in court on March 5.
