All seven seats on the Bentonville School Board are up for grabs in September, and time is running out to throw your hat in the ring.

Until now, all seven board members represented the entire district, but the minority population has risen enough to require specific board director zones, according to Superintendent Mike Poore. That means each position must be elected in September.

Applicants must collect twenty signatures from within their specific zone, and turn the documents in by July 10. Poore says four people have already filed, and he hopes more people decide to get involved.

"It's healthy to have some choices for the community," he says. "We want to have all seven spots filled as well."

The election is scheduled for September. You can find a link to the petition here and more information on how to file at the district's website.
