Students in Rogers donated time and hard work to folks living near Heritage High School.

Saturday marked "HHS Community Leaf Removal Day" for neighbors of the school. Volunteers and students were removing leaves from yards in the area starting at 8:00 a.m.

Rakes, bags and other supplies were donated by local businesses and organizers said the event brings students together while serving their community.

"We've recognized that there are people, there are elderly people, people out of work, people who just lost a spouse or something...They're just not able to do it themselves so we wanted to help them out," said Brig Caldwell with Heritage High School Students Relations.

Nearly 300 bags of leaves were collected in neighborhoods Saturday and organizers hope the event becomes a new holiday tradition for the community.
