Women of NWA: Lela Davidson

A local mom has been making headlines around the country, literally. Lela Davidson has written two books and works regularly with various media outlets, sharing stories and helping people laugh at the chaos of everyday life. Davidson spends her days like many other working moms, but with perhaps one very big difference. She talks and writes about those moments many would rather forget, and she does it in a way that allows people to connect.
"I wanted to read the stories that me and my friends told on the driveway when we were going over our day and what crazy things happened and the things that made us realize we were not alone in this crazy thing," she said. "Because staying home as a mom especially if you didn't necessarily plan that can be extremely isolating."
Through talking and laughing about the everyday ups and downs, Davidson said she's ended up working regularly with more than 50 regional parenting magazines. She's even written two books.
Davidson explained, "I feel like it's kinda my role is to kinda chronicle our normal average everyday life because, like I said before, it's not the big stories that are happening to us but it's the stories that we can all relate to. I don't have a big grand story to tell. I have a lot of little small stories."
Those stories keep her followers and friends laughing at situations that could at times be overwhelming. Friend Tina Winham said Davidson's works are comforting.
"As women we have this perfectionist mind set that everything has to go a certain way. Lela is very relatable because she will say the things your thinking."
And she will give you a reason to smile because in life it's always nice to know you're not alone. That may be one of the reasons Davidson is able to work with folks just about anywhere well, that and of course technology.
Davidson said, "It's amazing to me that I now talk to editors everyday in New York City and do work from here and still make it to carpool."
And somehow manages to make life a little more fun just when you think you're ready to pull your hair out.
