Should the U.S. consider banning the penny?
A new report suggests the answer is yes.

CNNMoney reported Canada dropped the use of its penny today. The argument for dropping the penny is it cost twice as much to produce than it is worth.
The U.S. Treasury is now considering following Canada's lead. Businesses tell CNNMoney rounding to the nearest nickle will save time and be more convenient for the customers and cashiers.
