57-year-old Philip G. Hanson, from Siloam Springs, was sentenced in Federal Court today to 15 years in prison for mailing threatening letters, some containing a white powder, which caused the evacuations of several buildings including banks, a post office, an elementary school and a Siloam Springs business.
After four days of trial, Hanson was convicted back in September of 26 counts of mailing threatening communications and 30 counts of mailing white powder.
Hanson was indicted by a grand jury in March 2012, accused of sending the letters between October and November of 2011.
None of the white powdery substances Hanson mailed were found to be harmful.
